History of the Foundation

For the past 30 years, Felix Nussbaum has formed the centre-piece of the collection of Irmgard and Hubert Schlenke. In the mid-90s, they conceived of the idea of setting up a Foundation, dedicated to preserving the pictorial legacy of the artist. An initially Essen-based Foundation was subsequently integrated into the “Felix-Nussbaum-Foundation”, domiciled in Osnabrück. Accordingly, the Foundation was launched on the private initiative of this  collector couple.
